Well-being in the East: Delivering a Healthy Active Future
Early in 2006, the Big Lottery Fund (BLF) launched a Well-Being Programme to support initiatives that encourage communities to lead healthier life-styles and improve well-being.
CSIP Eastern led the development of a portfolio bid to the BLF Well-being Programme for the East of England and, on 18 July 07, was successfully awarded a grant of £3,9000,019 to fund the projects (see the press release).
We are now managing a portfolio of 25 projects that aim to improve people’s mental health by focusing on prevention, encourage healthier eating by helping people to make better choices and change their lifestyles, and to increase levels of physical activity among people of all ages.
One such project is the Sport for Health project, which will tackle physical inactivity and obesity by working in partnerships with schools and ‘outside school clubs’. It will stimulate an increase in the quantity and quality of sport, physical activity and health promotion activities within primary schools.
We have launched a dedicated website where you can find out more information about the projects - www.well-beingeast.co.uk
